10 of the 13 problems below are not faults. The modeler does that on purpose, and they are marked by design.

I can't find the amp models

  1. by design

There are none . Fix: HX Effects is the effects half of the platform by design. If you wanted amp models, that is an HX Stomp.

my computer won't record from it

  1. by design

It is not an audio interface . Fix: USB carries editing, firmware and control messages only.

my pedal in the loop sounds wrong

  1. Level mismatch between the loop and the pedal . Fix: The loops can run at instrument or line level. Set them to match what you have put in them, in Global Settings > Ins/Outs.

the display keeps changing to an effect I didn't select

  1. by design

A foot resting on a capacitive switch . Fix: Touching a switch selects its effect for editing without switching it. Move your foot off.

it loses power mid-set

  1. The supply cable is not secured . Fix: Loop the cable through one of the two cable-tie hooks on the rear.

fault

it sounds thin, fizzy or harsh through my speakers

Two settings cause nearly all of this, and neither is a tone control. Check them in this order before you touch an EQ.

  1. The output level does not match what you plugged into . Fix: Instrument level into a mixer, or line level into the front of an amp, sounds like a bad amp model. Set the output level to match: one menu, 30 seconds.

  2. The cab block is in the wrong state . Fix: Cab on into anything full-range, cab off into anything that ends in a real guitar speaker. A cab into a real cab is two speakers stacked. No cab into a PA is an amp with no speaker at all.

half my sound is missing when I use one cable

  1. by design

The cable is in the RIGHT jack, not LEFT/MONO . Fix: When you feed a single amp, speaker or mixer channel, connect only the LEFT/MONO jack. That jack sums the signal. The RIGHT jack carries the right side alone, so a stereo preset loses everything panned left.

it says DSP full and won't let me add a block

Line 6 let you add whatever you like until the DSP runs out, instead of capping you at one amp and one reverb. The limit arrives without warning.

  1. by design

Stereo blocks cost roughly double . Fix: A stereo version of an effect uses about twice the DSP of the mono one, and a dual cab about twice a single. Make mono anything that does not need to be stereo, usually everything before the amp.

  2. by design

Legacy cabs cost much more than IR-based ones . Fix: From firmware 3.50 the IR-based Cab and IR blocks use significantly less DSP than the original Legacy Cab blocks. Swapping a Legacy cab is often the biggest saving available.

  3. by design

There is a cheaper version of the block you want . Fix: Several categories include Simple blocks that do the same job for less. Instead of two Amp+Cab pairs, try one Amp into a Cab > Dual. Mixing two cabs gets you a lot of the variation for a fraction of the cost.

my snapshot edits vanish when I switch snapshots and come back

  1. by design

Snapshot Edits is set to Discard . Fix: Global Settings > Preferences > Snapshot Edits sets this. Recall (the default) keeps your changes as you left them. Discard returns the snapshot to its last-saved state. Discard suits playing live and loses edits while you are building. Hold BYPASS and press SAVE to flip it at any time. The camera icon on the Home screen is gray for Recall and red for Discard.

a snapshot I just selected sounds identical to the last one

  1. by design

Nothing has been changed in it yet . Fix: An unedited snapshot carries the state you arrived with. It becomes its own sound the moment you change something in it. Nothing is broken.

loading a preset jumps to a snapshot I didn't choose

  1. by design

It recalls whichever snapshot was active when the preset was saved . Fix: Saving a preset stores all of its snapshots and remembers which one you were on. If a song should always start on the intro sound, select that snapshot and then save. The choice is made at save time, not at load time.

my delay or reverb cuts off the instant I bypass it

This is a setting inside the block. Tails cutting off at a preset change is a different problem.

  1. by design

That block's Trails setting is Off . Fix: Trails Off mutes repeats and decays the moment the block is bypassed. Trails On lets them ring out, through a bypass and through a snapshot change. It is set per block, so check every delay and reverb.
