playing live

What to settle before the gig, not during it.

the one thing

Level-match your presets at home. Everything else on this list can be fixed at soundcheck. That one cannot.

before you leave

Level-match every preset you plan to use against every other one. A preset 4 dB louder than the rest cannot be fixed from the front of house, and it costs you the engineer's goodwill.

Back up your presets. Firmware updates and factory resets both exist, and neither asks twice.

when you arrive

  1. Balanced outputs to the desk. Ask whether they want mono (most do) and give them the LEFT/MONO jack only.
  2. If there is hum, try the ground lift before a DI box.
  3. Check you are in the footswitch mode you expect.
  4. Set your volume, then leave it. On devices with a lock for the volume control, use it.

things that look like faults and are not

Delay and reverb tails cutting off when you change preset. A preset change does that. Build the change as a snapshot instead.

The screen changing when you have not pressed anything. The footswitches are touch-sensitive, so a resting foot selects a block without switching it.

A block that will not add while the meter looks half empty. That is a hard cap, not a fault.

The troubleshooting page marks every entry that is documented behavior, not a fault.
