the controls you will use

The handful that cover nearly everything you will do, plus the gestures that are not printed on the chassis.

the one thing

Learn three things: how to change what the footswitches do (press ◀ PAGE or PAGE ▶ while in Play view), how to save (hold HOME and press ACTION), and how to reach more parameters than the knobs can show.

FS1–FS3

Three switches whose job depends on which of the four footswitch modes is active.

Press, in Stomp mode
Turns the assigned block or blocks on and off. FS3 is the tap tempo.
Press, in Preset mode
Loads preset A, B or C from the current bank.
Press, in Snapshot mode
Selects snapshot 1, 2 or 3.
Press, in Scroll mode
FS1 loads the previous preset, FS2 the next. FS3 is still tap tempo.
Hold FS3
Opens the tuner. Touch it instead to open the tempo panel.
Worth knowing
FS3 is the tap tempo in every mode, so two switches are free. Snapshots get more out of those two.

modes are the whole game

The footswitches do not have fixed jobs. What they do depends on the mode, and to change it you press ◀ PAGE or PAGE ▶ while in Play view.

A Line 6 modeler that looks broken is usually in a mode you did not choose. Change the mode and it works again.

save, or lose it

Changes are not saved until you tell the device to save them—hold HOME and press ACTION. Until then, an “E” beside the preset name marks it as edited.

Change preset while that E is showing and your work is gone with no warning and no undo.

Save before you change preset. An unsaved edit is lost on the switch.
