five things that explain almost every problem.

  1. 01

eleven footswitches, and they all turn.

Eleven footswitches, all of them rotary encoders. BANK DOWN and TEMPO end the two main rows; BANK UP sits up by the screen.

  2. 02

a second reverb needs the other path.

A second reverb on the same path will not load, even with the CPU meter at a third. The limit is per path, not global. Move the block to the other path. Deleting other blocks does not help.

  3. 03

set the input to 0 dB, then check the meter.

Start at 0 dB, the default. Then play a little harder than usual: the meter should just tickle the red, or sit just below clipping. Move the level only if it doesn’t. The whole check takes two minutes.

  4. 04

scenes inside a song, presets between songs.

Presets reload the whole rig. Scenes recall settings inside a rig that’s already loaded, so they switch instantly. Build each song as one preset with scenes. Three presets for one song leaves audible dropouts mid-song.

  5. 05

IN LEVEL sets your capture. INST LEVEL does not.

INST LEVEL sets how hard the device being captured is driven. IN LEVEL sets the return signal the capture is made from. Mix them up and the capture comes out at the wrong level or feels wrong to play.

This guide was assembled from Neural DSP’s manual, FAQ, product documentation and CorOS release notes, plus their community forum and the community wiki. The panel diagrams were read off the hardware itself. Facts are labeled by where they came from.

Some things about this device are documented only by owners comparing notes, not by Neural: the per-path DSP limits and the capture level conventions. They are the only account that fits the behavior, and they are marked community-sourced.
