This Ampeg V-5 is a single-channel, roughly 100-watt head built around four 6550 output tubes on a silicon bridge supply. Three 12AX7s handle a cascaded preamp with Bright and Gain switches, a cathode-follower-driven treble/bass/mid stack, master volume, presence and a long-tail phase inverter. It is a more gain-oriented, master-volume design than Ampeg's earlier V-series amps, with no reverb or tremolo.
