The Ampeg V-9 was the flagship of the V-series guitar amplifier line, an all-tube guitar head producing approximately 300 watts from six 6550A output tubes — essentially the SVT circuit retuned for guitar. Released in the early 1970s, the V-9 was designed for guitarists who needed SVT-level power and headroom for large-stage use, with a guitar-voiced preamp circuit in place of the bass-optimized SVT preamp. The V-9 is extremely rare and is among the most powerful all-tube guitar heads ever produced by an American manufacturer.
