The Purple Nightmare is Driftwood's hand-built German 100-watt metal head. Two relay-switched channels on four ECC83s each have their own gain and EQ, with a gain boost, a built-in op-amp Tube Screamer-style overdrive assignable to either channel, a noise gate and two masters. An effects loop and an ECC83 long-tailed-pair inverter feed a mixed power section of two 6L6GCs and two KT88s; a Night switch routes to a 2-watt solid-state output.
