The 5F6-A is the late-1950s tweed Bassman, a 4×10 combo whose circuit became the template for the Marshall JTM45. A 12AY7 input stage, a 12AX7 gain stage and cathode follower driving a treble/bass/mid stack, and a 12AX7 long-tail phase inverter feed two fixed-bias 5881s on a GZ34 rectifier. Built for bass, it became a classic guitar amp for its full clean tone and rich overdrive when cranked.
