The 5D3 is a mid-1950s wide-panel tweed Deluxe. Instrument and Microphone channels have separate volumes and a shared tone control, with a 12AY7 input stage and a 12AX7 whose second half works as a paraphase inverter, driving a pair of cathode-biased 6V6GTs on a 5Y3GT rectifier with no negative feedback. It is the direct predecessor of the 5E3.
