The Gibson BR-1 is an early post-war lap steel and electric guitar amplifier from the late 1940s, part of Gibson's BR (Budget Rocker) series aimed at the growing Hawaiian and country market. Using pentode preamp tubes and 6V6 power tubes, the BR-1 produces a warm, dark, and compressed tone suited to slide guitar, pedal steel, and early electric guitar styles. Its straightforward circuit design and limited feature set reflect the economics and technology of immediate postwar American amp manufacturing.
