The Kent 2198 is a small Japanese-made student amp from the mid-1960s, sold in the US alongside the near-identical Kent 1475 and 2188. It is a transformerless AC/DC design: three inputs share a volume into a 12AU6 pentode, which drives a single-ended, cathode-biased 50C5 into a 3.2-ohm speaker, with a 35W4 rectifier. A single tone control, a treble cut on the output, sets the 2198 apart from its siblings. Simple and low-gain.
