The Marshall Major is a 200-watt head from the late 1960s, running four KT88 output tubes for enormous clean headroom and volume. It was popular with bass players and with guitarists who wanted a very loud, tight amp, most famously Ritchie Blackmore, whose modified Majors powered Deep Purple in the early 1970s.
