The Marshall Model 2099 Super Bass 100W was part of the JMP series aimed squarely at bass players who needed enormous stage volume without breakup. It shares the same chassis and basic topology as the Super Lead but is voiced with a flatter EQ curve, tighter low-end response, and reduced upper midrange emphasis to let bass guitars speak clearly at full power. Despite being designed for bass, it was frequently commandeered by guitarists seeking a cleaner, more headroom-rich platform compared to the Super Lead, and its rugged construction made it a reliable workhorse through the 1970s.
