The Marshall 9001 is a two-channel rack-mounted valve preamp that brings the JCM800's preamp architecture into a 2U rackmount format. Five ECC83 preamp valves drive clean and overdrive channels with independent EQ sections, designed to feed the 9005 valve power amp or the 8004/8008 solid-state power amps. A built-in programmable MIDI switching system allows channel and effect loop switching from a MIDI controller or pedalboard, making it one of the first widely-used programmable Marshall preamps and a defining piece of the elaborate rack rigs that dominated professional touring in the late 1980s and 1990s.
