The Teisco Checkmate 18 is a vintage Japanese guitar amplifier from Teisco, the Tokyo-based instrument and electronics manufacturer that flooded the American market with affordable guitars and amps through Sears and other retailers in the 1960s. The Checkmate series was Teisco's main amplifier line, featuring solid-state and tube designs at various wattages. These amps are now collected for their funky 1960s Japanese aesthetic and lo-fi tonal character.
